ADP Overview

Established in 2012 with training locations in Boston, MA and San Francisco, CA, the Associate Development Program (“ADP”) hires entry-level associates to participate in a comprehensive rotational development and training program that combines critical thinking, business and financial fundamentals, and hands-on experience supporting teams, markets, and client segments across the Innovation Ecosystem and broader Commercial Bank.

With ADP as your launching pad into a career at FCB, the opportunities are endless. Throughout the Program, you will collaborate with a variety of teams supporting innovative businesses, venture-backed companies, investors and other participants in the innovation economy. The breadth of experiences, relationships, and skills gained through ADP will prepare you to pursue a wide range of career paths across First Citizens.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Training
The foundation of the Associate Development Program is our hands-on training curriculum.  It is a building-block approach to develop the skills you’ll need to support dynamic, diverse and rapidly growing clients.  The training consists of a combination of classroom-style instruction, case-study-based exercises, and live work with experienced facilitators and business leaders.  Throughout the program, associates will develop foundational business, financial and credit skills while gaining an understanding of the innovation economy and the unique business models of companies across various life stages. With these skills in place, you will learn to develop and deliver bespoke financial solutions tailored to all participants in the innovation ecosystem, including startups, founders, investors and public companies.

On the Job Training
While in training, associates are embedded within business units across First Citizens’ Commercial Banking platform to receive hands-on training in areas such as credit risk assessment, loan portfolio management and client management.  Associates collaborate with team members to complete meaningful work, develop skills to take on increasing responsibility and gain exposure to different business areas and geographies that may become long-term career opportunities following completion of the Program.

Life in ADP
You will assist in managing various aspects of client portfolio and relationships. Responsibilities include assessing and monitoring credit risk, providing financial and credit analysis for a variety of innovative companies, and developing an understanding of the industries, business models, products, and services that drive the innovation economy. As you become a member of the ADP community and build lasting relationships with your peers, you will also receive dedicated mentorship and professional development to strengthen both your technical andfinancial skills, as well as your interpersonal and communication skills. The Program provides broad exposure to a network of professionals and career paths across First Citizens, helping position you for long-term success.
