What do you do in your current position? How long have you been in your current role?
I started my career with the Michelin Career Center in 1989 as a career counselor. Through the years, I have held several different positions. I began my current role as the Director of Career Development in 2003 and oversee career counseling, program development, workshops, and the Executive in Residence Program. In the summer, I teach a career development course. Additionally, I work collaboratively with Student Accessibility Service’s Spectrum Program.
Where are you from, and what is your educational background?
I was born in North Carolina but grew up in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. I have a Master of Education in Community Agency Counseling from Clemson University and a Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiotherapy from Catawba College.
What is the most common question you get from students?
The most common question is, “How do I create a resume when I don’t have anything to add?” Students often minimize the great experience they already have like part-time jobs, volunteer positions, class projects, creative inquiry, and different roles they hold within clubs and organizations.
What is a fun fact about you?
While visiting Egypt, I had an opportunity to ride a camel. It’s nothing like riding a horse.
What do you like most about your job?
Clemson students are amazing, and I love empowering them in their career development. Also, I’m very fortunate to work with the Center for Career and Professional Development staff. We are like a family. I hope students pick up on this when they visit us.

What do you do in your current position? How long have you been in your current role?
I started full-time at Clemson University in January 2016. I began as a counselor at CAPS in Redfern before moving in September 2017 to the Center for Career and Professional Development office. In my role, I provide career counseling, coordinate the Career Ambassador Program (our peer counselors), present workshops, and supervise our Graduate Assistant, Intern and Practicum students for the Career Development Team.
Where are you from and what is your educational background?
I grew up in Clemson, SC and returned to the area in 2016. I have a Master of Education in Community and Agency Counseling and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Clemson University.
What is the most common question you get from students?
The most common question is, “What is the best way to get an internship or full-time position?” Use the resources available through the CCPD, tailor your documents, and increase your network to find opportunities that might not be posted yet!
What is a fun fact about you?
I ran a half marathon for the first time at age 43!

Career Resource Manager

What do you do in your current position? How long have you been in your current role?
I started full-time at Clemson University in August of 2016. I am the Career Resource Coordinator for the CCPD’s Career Resource Center. In that role I manage all student interactions and appointments; ensure excellent customer service and implement policies and procedures for in-person and virtual meetings; and provide support for all staff, graduate assistants, interns, and student volunteers. I also provide career counseling and career development services to students.
Where are you from and what is your educational background?
I am from Abilene, Texas and studied Family and Consumer Science at Abilene Christian University.
What is the most common question you get from students?
The most common question is, “How can I make an appointment?”

What do you like most about your job?
Working with the wonderful CD team. I love the collaboration we have when trying to best serve the students. Additionally, I am fortunate to be able to work closely with our wonderful interns and graduate assistants.

What do you do in your current position? How long have you been in your current role?
I started full-time at Clemson University in August 2015. I began as a counselor at CAPS in Redfern before moving to the Center for Career and Professional Development office to work as an Assistant Director of Career Development. Currently, I work part-time in our office and am one of the career counseling staff. I help with career counseling, workshops, student outreach, and faculty/staff education of our services.
Where are you from and what is your educational background?
I am from Spartanburg, SC but moved to Clemson for my undergraduate degree and never left! I earned both a Masters of Education and an Education Specialist degree from Clemson University as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Yay for being a double alumna!
What is the most common question you get from students?
The most common question is, “How do I follow up with an employer after an interview?” I think the best way to follow up is with a handwritten note or an email to the people you interviewed with and connecting with them on LinkedIn.
What is a fun fact about you?
My family loves to be outdoors either hiking or off roading. A few summers ago, we had the opportunity to do some Jeep driving in Moab, including Hell’s Revenge trail!
What do you like most about your job?
I love working with students and helping them find a direction with their major or career! Also, the people in our office are the most caring, wonderful individuals that I have had the opportunity to work with and they make everything more fun!

What do you do in your current position? How long have you been in your current role?
I started at Clemson University in June of 2019 and I work part-time in our office as one of the career counseling staff. I assist students with major and career exploration and in interpreting the results for the Strong Interest Inventory. I also assist students with the job or graduate school search strategies and in reviewing their professional documents such as resumes, cover letters and personal statements.
Where are you from and what is your educational background?
I am from Ohio and earned my Bachelor of Science in Communications from Wingate University. I earned a Master of Education in Higher Education and Student Affairs from USC.
What is the most common question you get from students?
The most common question is, “What can I do with my major?” We have many resources that we can employ to help students identify the right career path for them ranging from inventories such as the Strong Interest Inventory (SII) and the Myers Briggs Type Indicator to web resources such as The Occupational Outlook Handbook and What Can I Do With This Major.
What do you like most about your job?
I love working with students! I enjoy meeting students from all backgrounds, no student is exactly the same!
