Career Counseling

Students can drop in during the designated hours listed on our website to briefly meet with a career counselor or schedule an appointment for a longer period of time. Drop-ins are taken on a first-come, first-serve basis and typically last 10-15 minutes. Scheduled appointments can last from 30 minutes to an hour and can be scheduled through ClemsonJobLink.

Students trying to choose a major career field may want to take a career assessment. The CCPD offers a variety of career assessments that can be useful in the decision-making process.

The CCPD will review resumes, cover letters, curricular vitae, personal statements and other career development-related documents. Documents can be reviewed during a drop-in or scheduled appointment.

The CCPD offers interviewing assistance in the form of mock interviews. Students can hone their interviewing skills and receive feedback from career counselors and experienced professionals in a low-stress environment. Mock Interviews are tailored to specific positions when possible, as well as the student’s background and pursued position.

The CCPD offers a range of resources and tools to help students identify internships, part-time positions, and full-time positions. Career counselors will help students develop tailored approaches to their job search and help students utilize the tools and resources available int the CCPD, including ClemsonJobLink and CareerShift.

The CCPD offers a multitude of workshops facilitated by career counselors, including choosing a major, resumes, interviewing skills, job search, networking strategies, dining etiquette, and other topics. Workshops can also be scheduled for specific student organizations or classes.

Experiential Education

Students can gain both real-world experience and a paycheck through Cooperative Education, University Professional Internship/Co-op (UPIC) assignments, and/or off-campus internships. These experiences offer academic benefits to participants and allow students the chance to discover whether they are in the appropriate major for their specific interests and career objectives. Some assignments require multiple rotations, while others are single-term experiences- students can decide which program best suits their needs and choose accordingly.

Students enrolled in the Cooperative Education Program should call (864) 656-3150 to schedule a time for advising.

Curricular practical training (CPT) is available to F-1 students who have been lawfully enrolled full-time for at least one academic year.

Complete the IS-130 CPT Recommendation Form.
