Location: Clemson, SC Schedule: Thursday–Saturday nights (evenings into late night) Type: Part-time, hourly Reports to: Venue Manager
About Study Hall
Study Hall is a live music and nightlife spot in Clemson hosting bands and DJs Thursday through Saturday. We’re looking for a reliable sound engineer to own front-of-house and make every act sound their best — from a four-piece band to a solo DJ set.
What You’ll Do
- Run front-of-house sound for live bands and DJ sets on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights
- Set up, line-check, and tear down the PA, mixing console, monitors, microphones, DI boxes, and cabling each night
- Mix live performances in real time, balancing vocals, instruments, and tracks for the room
- Run soundcheck with performers and dial in monitor mixes
- Coordinate with bands and DJs on input needs, stage plots, and changeovers between acts
- Troubleshoot audio issues quickly during shows (feedback, signal loss, gear faults)
- Manage volume levels responsibly and keep the room within sound and safety limits
- Maintain and store gear properly; flag repairs and replacement needs to the manager
What We’re Looking For
- 1–3 years of live sound experience (bands and/or DJs)
- Comfortable operating an analog or digital mixing console
- Solid grasp of signal flow, gain staging, EQ, and feedback control
- Experience mic’ing drums, amps, and vocals, plus running DJ inputs
- Calm and quick under pressure during a live set
- Dependable and punctual — you can commit to Thursday–Saturday nights
- Able to lift and move equipment (up to ~50 lbs) and work on your feet for a full shift
- Must be available nights and able to work late
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with wireless mic systems and in-ear monitors
- Basic lighting or A/V experience
- Knowledge of the local Clemson music scene
- Ability to work with a Behringer X-32
Compensation & Hours
- Pay, based on experience (discuss at interview)
- Roughly 15 hours per week across three show nights
- Consistent weekly schedule with the same Thursday–Saturday cadence
