Engineering Intern – Device Assembly

Job Overview
The Device Assembly Intern role is designed to provide hands-on experience in medical device manufacturing while supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the FAAM assembly areas. Interns will work closely with Process Engineers and Operations teams to analyze performance data, improve standard work, enhance visual management, and support maintenance optimization. This role will expose interns to real-world manufacturing challenges, Lean principles, and regulated industry practice
Main Responsibilities
- FAAM (Fully Automated Assembly Machine) Downtime Reduction – Pareto Analysis
- Conduct a comprehensive Pareto analysis of downtime across FAAM lines
- Identify top contributors to downtime and recurring failure modes
- Analyze trends by shift, equipment, and process step
- Partner with Engineering and Operations to validate root causes
- Develop prioritized improvement recommendations
- Troubleshooting Guidelines Development
- Observe equipment operation and common failure modes
- Document best practices from technicians, engineers, and supervisors
- Develop standardized troubleshooting guides
- Create visual job aids for operators and maintenance
- Support implementation and training Improved Visualization & 6S Enhancement Maintenance Plan Review & Optimization
Skills and Qualification
- Working toward Life Science or Engineering degree.
- Knowledge of and ability to use process management tools
- Customer orientation and the ability to identify and effectively manage stakeholder expectations
- Ability to prioritize and to thrive in a cross-functional, inter-company and international environment
- A solution-oriented growth mindset
- Fluent in English language, written and spoken
- Team player and self-starter
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects · simultaneously.
- Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, including FDA regulations and ISO standards.
- Knowledge of Lean 6S & Six Sigma, Continuous cost reduction and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex control issues.
