The Avtec Scout Team designs world-class, end-to-end mission-critical communication solutions for government, public safety, and transportation customers.
The Avtec Scout Team is where this mission comes to life. We are a passionate group of engineers designing world-class, end-to-end communication solutions using cutting-edge technologies like APCO P25, DMR, LTE, and Voice Over IP. We don’t just build software; we create the reliable systems that enable people to do their jobs and stay safe.

Job Description

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our team in Lexington, SC. This isn’t just another job—it’s a chance to make a real impact on our mission-critical Scout product line. You will work in a fast-paced Agile environment where your contributions directly influence the design, development, and evolution of our products. This role offers the opportunity to expand your knowledge of software engineering, quality assurance, and general development skills.

 

Your Mission

As a key member of our engineering team, you will be instrumental in developing the next generation of features and improving our development processes. We’re looking for someone who is eager to learn, solve complex problems, and contribute to a collaborative team.

  • Innovate and Build: Develop high-quality code for new Scout features.

  • Drive Quality: Create automated unit tests and participate in design and code reviews to ensure our software is robust and reliable.

  • Collaborate and Grow: Contribute as an individual engineer within an Agile team, participating in all phases of the product development process from requirements to testing.

  • Improve the Process: Provide input and contribute to ongoing discussions for process improvements and developing intellectual property for the company.

  • Ensure Excellence: Create and execute unit, integration, and system tests while adhering to the team’s performance and quality metrics.

  • Problem-Solver: You possess strong analytical and system debugging skills.

  • Team Player: You’re a strong communicator who can work independently while also contributing to a dynamic, multi-functional team within an Agile/Scrum environment.

  • Technical Skills: You’re knowledgeable in C/C++ development and low-level computer concepts like memory management and general I/O. You also have an understanding of networking protocols such as TCP and UDP.

Basic Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science

  • Must be a US Citizen or permanent resident and able to work on-site at our facility in Lexington, SC.
