This position as a Field Engineer – (Entry Level Project Manager / Superintendent) – INTERN for J. R. Wilson Construction Co. includes but is not limited to the following roles and responsibilities:
- Field Engineer – Entry Level Project Manager/Superintendent
- Reading and interpreting site plans and specifications
- Coordinating daily construction activities with crew. Communicates work plans to crew in a timely manner so there is zero idle time and jobsite is running as efficiently as possible
- Ability to build projects from beginning to end (i.e. clearing & grubbing, water, sewer, storm drain, grading, paving, etc.)
- Track quantities for monthly pay estimates
- Track actual costs to compare versus project estimates
- Record daily hours / timesheets for project labor and equipment
- Coordinate and correspond with owners, engineers, customers, etc.
- Attend and conduct progress meetings as necessary
- Ensure project is constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule
- Surveyor
- Utilize Topcon GPS Base/Rover system to perform jobsite staking and other surveying related activities
- Ability to perform general layout of construction sites. Utilize GPS, transit, rotary level, total station, pipe laser, etc.
- Ability to calculate grades and elevations
- Quality Control – ensure work put in place is precise and accurate and meets project plans and specifications
- Construction Operations
- Lead construction efforts for grading, storm drain, water/sewer, asphalt, concrete, and other operations as necessary
- Grading – rough grading, fine grading, mass excavation, etc.
- Storm Drain – layout, installation, brick and mortar, set tops, etc.
- Water/Sewer – layout, installation, testing, etc.
