Granite Services International, Inc. third party logistics program provides inbound and outbound logistics & customs compliance services in Asia, N. America, S. America, and Europe. Our 120+ global employees fulfilled over 100,000 shipments in 2013 and facilitated Customs clearance, freight payment, and freight claims processes in our various on-site locations as part of our Customer’s Logistics Center of Excellence.
This position will provide route scenarios through feasibility study(s) and/or surveys based on supply location(s) to project sites in North America, to include Canada and Mexico. Identify potential risks with roads, bridges, turning radiuses, construction and various other obstacles which would prevent or delay component delivery to site. Make recommendations for improvements to meet transportation needs; and/or provide new routes which meet delivery to site.
There is no relocation or expenses for this position.
POSITION DUTIES
• Conduct transportation survey of project sites and routes prior to shipment of wind turbine components
• Assess commodity and equipment configurations needed to transport freight, recognize and alert transportation suppliers when freight requires additional special handling requirement
• Utilize customer allocation model to develop project delivery schedules; maintain updates and respond to changes.
• Review transportation suppliers logistics plan to include route, permits, equipment type for safety, quality and efficient freight delivery
• Collaborate with Project Management Team for wind project fulfillment. Provide awareness of potential fulfillment risk, site receiving challenges, and general support needed
• Develop and maintain relationships with appropriate transportation departments to ensure adequate coordination is made between the logistics service providers and the project sites.
• Participate in various meetings to monitor shipment status, delay issues, and to perform problem resolution to ensure fulfillment is achieved
• Complete site survey reports for initial and follow-up surveys.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
• BS degree in Civil Engineering, or 5+ years logistics experience with a minimum of 1 year project logistics and 2+ years heavy haul experience
• Knowledge of permitting requirements and route constraints
• Proficiency in MS Office to include Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Capability to learn new software quickly and optimize technology capability
• Ability to multitask in a demanding work environment
