About the Role
The Shipping & Receiving Specialist is responsible for managing all inbound and outbound shipments for the facility, ensuring products are received, stored, picked, packed, and shipped accurately and on time. This role supports inventory accuracy, maintains shipping documentation, and works closely with warehouse, production, and customer service teams to ensure efficient order fulfillment and material flow.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and process all incoming and outgoing shipments for the facility
- Verify accuracy of incoming shipments against purchase orders and packing slips
- Pick, pack, and prepare customer orders for shipment accurately and on schedule
- Create shipping labels, bills of lading, packing slips, and other required shipping documents
- Schedule freight pickups with carriers including UPS, FedEx, LTL, and other freight providers
- Ensure all outbound shipments meet customer requirements and delivery deadlines
- Maintain organized shipping and receiving areas for efficient workflow
- Monitor and update inventory levels within inventory management systems
- Perform cycle counts and assist with inventory reconciliation and accuracy improvements
- Receive and properly store raw materials, finished goods, and spare parts
- Report damaged, missing, or incorrect shipments and coordinate resolutions
- Maintain compliance with company safety procedures and warehouse best practices
- Support continuous improvement efforts in shipping, receiving, and inventory processes
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse operations, or inventory control
- Experience creating shipping labels and managing carrier shipments
- Strong knowledge of shipping systems, inventory software, and warehouse procedures
- Experience with ERP, WMS, or inventory management systems preferred
- Familiarity with UPS, FedEx, freight carriers, and LTL shipping processes
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet shipping deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Excel and shipping software platforms
- Forklift experience preferred (if applicable)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a warehouse environment
- High school diploma or GED
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen

- Current forklift certification, or willingness to obtain one

Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for full shift durations in a warehouse setting
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.; occasionally handle heavier items with team lift or equipment assistance
- Ability to safely operate a forklift and other material handling equipment (training provided if needed)
- Exposure to a warehouse/dock environment with variable temperatures, dust, and outdoor loading conditions
- Full-time schedule; overtime and occasional weekend work may be required to meet shipping deadlines
