The Production Engineering Manager reports to the Plant Manager and is responsible for leading day-to-day operations on the manufacturing floor, ensuring the safe and efficient use of equipment and labor to meet production targets.
This role oversees operations involving Bodor laser cutting system, pipe cleaning machine, Fanuc welding robots, and manual welders used in the fabrication of all Fuller Pile™ products.
The Production Engineering Manager also plays a key role in inventory management, shipping/receiving coordination, and enforcing safety protocols across all floor personnel and machines.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Production Oversight
- Assist Plant Manager with daily oversight of the entire production line, ensuring all stations and robotic welding processes run smoothly and efficiently, meet production targets, and ensure quality control standards are being met.
- Develop linear programming & optimization models (Excel Based)
- Develop simulation modeling
- Oversee time and motion studies
- Conduct bottleneck analysis
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of production workers, welders, and equipment operators.
- Monitor and optimize the use of Bodor laser cutting machines, welding robots, and manual weld stations.
- Maintain production schedules and adjust resources to meet output and quality targets.
- Perform or coordinate basic troubleshooting and maintenance on floor equipment.
- Expected Outcome: 4-5X increase in throughput through finalization or robotic designs.
- Inventory & Materials Management
- Oversee material flow from receiving to production and work in progress and finished goods staging.
- Assist with inventory control systems (DBA manufacturing)
- Ensure proper storage, labeling, and handling of raw materials and finished products.
- Maintain factory grounds and factory floor to ensure equipment, supplies, and inventory are clean and properly organized according to building and site maps.
- Daily inventory reporting, periodic inventory quarterly, and scheduled year-end physical inventory counts.
- Shipping & Receiving
- Supervise loading/unloading of shipments and verify documentation.
- Ensure timely movement of materials in and out of the facility in coordination with logistics staff.
- Equipment & Maintenance
- Oversee the maintenance and repair of welding robots, buildings, and all equipment.
- Assist the Plant Manager with coordination of robot manufacturers/ representatives to schedule routine maintenance or repairs.
- Create and follow a preventive maintenance schedule for all equipment to minimize downtime.
- Address technical issues promptly to avoid production delays.
- Assist in the maintenance of the DBA tablet, scanner, monitor, and computer.
- Safety & Compliance
- Enforce all safety policies and procedures including proper PPE use, machine guarding, and lockout/tagout protocols.
- Conduct regular safety audits and coordinate training for team members.
- Respond to incidents and near-misses, ensuring proper documentation and corrective actions.
- Team Leadership
- Provide coaching and corrective feedback to maintain productivity and morale.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Assist Plant Manager in addressing employee concerns and issues.
- Oversee Material Handler(s) to ensure company processes are being followed to receive deliveries and prepare and ship orders.
