We are seeking to hire an Entry-Level Structural Engineer who is interested in a mixture of office and field experience. Structural design work will be primarily earth-retaining structures, deep foundations, and shoring. Field work will consist of inspecting installed shoring systems and vertical construction.
Position Summary
The Entry-Level Structural Engineer will be mentored by a licensed structural engineer with over 30 years of experience designing buildings, parking decks, and earth retaining structures. This role involves applying the design applications taught in school to real world projects. Design work will include retaining walls, deep and shallow foundations, excavation support systems, and specialty structural applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Learn to design temporary and permanent shoring systems.
- Obtain EIT/FE (if not obtained prior to employment) and obtain design experience for P.E. license.
- Assist the lead structural engineer with design and analysis of retaining walls.
- Assist the lead structural engineer with the analysis of specialty structural application like retrofitting existing structures, developing load tests, creating crane lifting plans, and evaluation of barge stability.
- Develop engineering drawings, specifications, and technical reports under the guidance of the senior structural engineer.
- Conduct site visits to observe construction activities, evaluate existing structures, and inspect installation of structural components designed by FME.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
- Completed Structural Steel Design.
- Ability to obtain EIT/FE within 6 months.
Preferred:
- EIT/FE certification.
- Structural Engineering Concentration in Undergrad Degree
- Completed Reinforced Concrete Design.
