Title: Coordinator, EDF Action

Location: Washington, DC (hybrid)

Term: 1 year (with full benefits and possibility of extension)

Hiring Manager: Director, Board & External Relations

Overall Function

The Coordinator will be expected to provide project-based assistance and program support for the EDF Action Team. The position requires an individual who understands how to get things done in a large, complex organization through influence and collaboration. It is also essential that the person have exceptional writing skills and experience in handling sensitive and confidential information. Reporting to the Director of Board & External Relations, the Coordinator will coordinate and support EDF Action’s advocacy campaigns and agenda. This position has a specific focus on internal communications, marketing, and development to maintain connection between individuals and teams and cultivate engagement. This position reports to the Director, Board & External Relations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Director of Board Relations and President of EDF Action to manage projects with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Compose, edit, and proofread proposals, stewardship reports, and other communications for donor-facing materials; coordinating with the Donor Communications team, ensuring that donor documents meet the highest standards of writing and that the content reflects EDF Action’s priorities.
  • Assist in the timely and accurate preparation of donor and board material for meetings and events; coordinating relevant planning for each event.
  • Ensure strong communication and coordination within EDF Action, Political Affairs, and with other EDF programs and teams. 
  • Support special projects such as research, public facing events, internal promotional events, and external educational events.
  • Ensure project success by facilitating strong communication and sharing of information, ensure deliverables are given within specified timeframe, and make sure tasks are people are on the right track/understand their roles.
  • Support in the creation of promotional, fundraising, and advertisement communications for external and internal collaboration and relationship building.
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings; Identify and track key takeaways, next steps, resources and research needs and pull a team together/start a plan to complete these directives.
  • Develop and manage metrics tracking systems to assist with grant reporting and writing, presentations, board and donor reports.
  • Conduct administrative duties as needed including travel arrangements, expense reports, and meeting coordination for team’s leadership.
  • Participate in advancing EDF’s organizational effectiveness and culture goals, so people from all backgrounds and experiences feel connected, included and empowered to address environmental and organizational challenges in ways that align with EDF values.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent in a relevant field with at least 3 years of relevant experience; a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent may substitute for up to 2 years of relevant experience. Experience in a fundraising, nonprofit or electoral setting is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to compose, edit, and expertly proofread correspondence and other documents.
  • Strong strategic and analytical skills and the ability to convey complex ideas in writing, with a level of clarity and sophistication expected by our highly integral donors and prospects.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to maintain tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality while representing the organization and interfacing with all levels of staff at the national and affiliate offices, as well as with volunteers, donors, and outside vendors.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously both independently and as a member of teams in a dynamic and creative environment.
  • Ability to develop relationships and work collaboratively across the department and the organization.
  • Proven skill at building relationships to engender trust and influence cross-functionally in order to drive execution toward common goals.
  • Sound, independent judgment to plan, prioritize and organize a diversified workload.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to work with colleagues and partners of varied backgrounds and experience.
  • High ability to actively listen to colleagues, senior development management and donors to deftly navigate and manage relationships.
  • Demonstrated initiative and creativity; the ability to work independently as well as within a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet research. Experience working with Salesforce, fundraising or relational databases strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated self-awareness, cultural competency, inclusivity, and ability to work with colleagues and stakeholders across all cultures and backgrounds.
  • Interest in environmental advocacy is strongly preferred.
  • Willingness and ability to engage in national travel up to 10% of time.
