Job Description:
CPI is seeking a motivated Field Engineer/Surveyor to join our team! You will play a crucial role in facilitating the successful execution of projects by providing engineering input and survey work throughout the construction process. While most work will be performed directly on job sites, you will also collaborate with our in-office team, acting as a bridge between the design team and construction team to ensure congruency between data, methods, and processes.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Geographic Information Systems or relevant sitework experience
- Some experience in surveying software and tools like Civil 3D, AutoCAD
- Strong organizational and project management skills to coordinate various aspects of the project
- Ability to read, interpret, and modify construction plans and survey notes.
- Familiarity with industry standards, codes, and regulations
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated with a strong sense of accountability
Job Tasks:
- Conduct survey work to establish reference points, boundaries, and elevations on the job site; assist in interpreting and implementing surveying data for engineering purposes.
- Utilize surveying equipment such as Robotic total station, GPS, and laser levels to collect and analyze survey data.
- Tend to construction or project sites, monitoring progress and compliance with safety standards.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to interpret survey data to inform the design process, ensuring engineering plans are accurate and feasible to a given project.
- Provide on-site support during construction activities by ensuring accurate layout of structures, utilities, and infrastructure.
- Communicate effectively with project stakeholders including engineers, sub-contractors, and clients to coordinate surveying activities, address technical issues, and update the project team on job progress.
- Ensure materials and equipment meet project specifications and industry standards.
- Design and inspect construction projects by studying project concept, architectural drawings, and models.
- Compose correspondence and reports related to ongoing projects.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to traverse uneven terrain, climb steps, ladders, and scaffolds
- Tolerate environmental nuisances associated with construction sites
- Ability to keep hand and arm steady while moving arm or while holding arm and hand in one position
- Ability to see details at a close range
- Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs while moving the whole body. Includes climbing, lifting, balancing, stooping, and handling materials.
- Ability to lift and control 40 pounds from the ground to above the head.
