Job Description:
CPI is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Civil Engineer and Estimator to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, planning, and estimating costs for various civil engineering projects. This role involves a combination of technical engineering work and accurate cost estimation to support project proposals and execution. While most of this role will be completed with our in-office staff, occasional visits to job sites to ensure proper standards are being met may be required.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Geographic Information Systems or relevant sitework experience
- Proficiency with computer systems to help learn surveying and estimating software like Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and RIB CostX
- Strong organizational and project management skills to coordinate various aspects of the project
- Ability to read, interpret, and modify construction plans and survey notes
- Familiarity with industry standards, codes, and regulations
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work collaboratively
- Self-motivated with a strong sense of accountability
Job Tasks:
Design and Planning: Develop and review detailed engineering designs, drawings, and specifications for civil engineering projects such as roads, bridges, buildings, and utilities.
Cost Estimation: Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and other project-related expenses.
Project Analysis: Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and cost-benefit analyses to support project planning and decision-making.
Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure that designs and estimates align with project goals and budgets.
Technical Support: Provide technical guidance and support throughout the project lifecycle, from concept development through construction.
Documentation: Maintain comprehensive records of design calculations, project specifications, and cost estimates.
Compliance: Ensure that all designs and estimates comply with industry standards, local codes, and regulations.
Software Utilization: Use specialized software for design and estimation, such as AutoCAD, Revit, and estimation tools.
Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices to continuously improve design and estimation processes.
