Clemson University’s College of Science is seeking one Ph.D. Graduate Assistant to support the Science Junior Scholars Program and the Science Outreach Center (SOC).
This is a 12-month, 20 hours/week assistantship, that is renewable based on performance and available funding. Compensation includes a $25,000 stipend and a full tuition waiver (student fees not included).
About the Science Outreach Center and Science Junior Scholars Program
The SOC hosts STEM field trips, summer camps, and outreach events for K-12 youth.
Science Junior Scholars is a donor-funded SOC program serving high school students through:
– On-campus STEM labs and tours each semester
– A week-long residential summer STEM camp
– School-based STEM and career exploration experiences
– STEM Career Mentoring
Job Responsibilities
– Coordinate and facilitate Science Jr. Scholars program activities
– Mentor and engage high school students
– Communicate with leadership and teachers at our partner middle/high school
– Support Science Jr. Scholars program evaluation and reporting
– Serve as a substitute instructor for SOC field trip labs (fall/spring)
– Serve as an instructor for SOC STEM Summer Camps
Preferred Qualifications
– Interest in STEM education, youth development, and community engagement
– Experience working with K–12 students
– Driver’s license and ability to drive to partner school (located in Greenville, SC)
– Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills
– Ability to work independently and collaboratively
– Passion for STEM outreach and educational access
