Position Overview:
Are you passionate about fitness and looking to kickstart your career in the wellness industry? Join Clemson Campus Recreation as a Group Fitness Intern! This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in leading fitness classes, supporting fitness programming, and learning the ins and outs of group dynamics in a supportive and energetic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist Group Fitness Instructors in leading classes, ensuring a safe and positive experience for participants.
- Help set up and break down equipment before and after classes.
- Observe and learn various fitness class formats (e.g., yoga, HIIT, cycling, etc.) and assist with class planning and implementation.
- Engage with members to promote classes and encourage participation.
- Gather feedback from participants to help improve class offerings.
- Assist with administrative tasks, including class schedules, member communications, and social media promotion.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills in fitness and wellness.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the fitness studio and equipment.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a degree at Clemson.
- Strong interest in group fitness and wellness.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Energetic, motivated, and passionate about helping others achieve their fitness goals.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
- CPR/AED certification (or willingness to obtain before starting).

Eligibility requirements: UPIC interns must be enrolled, matriculating, full-time (12+ credit hours for part time interns) Clemson University undergraduate students in good academic standing and non-academic alert status (minimum cumulative Clemson GPA of 2.0) and in good status with the UPIC program. Once selected, in order to participate in the UPIC Program, student interns must enroll in the required INT course ($200 course fee) and complete hiring paperwork with the UPIC office. Interns cannot begin working until the hiring process is complete.
